I was so excited to play for
Anne & Kyle’s wedding and see many of the guests again from Maggie &
Frankie’s wedding that I had done earlier in the month. Anne was a bridesmaid at that wedding.
The ceremony was held on the
side lawn. As guests were seated I had a mix of classical versions of pop songs
playing. The rain cleared up right in time for the ceremony to begin. After a short ceremony by Rev Barbara Lodge
and a couple readings, Anne & Kyle were married. The guests made their way into the
Merrimon-Wynne house for cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres and I had a mix of
country, soft rock, classic soul and standards playing.
After the cocktail hour was over, the 175 guests made their way into the carriage house for dinner and dancing. I introduced the wedding party and Anne and Kyle came in and right to the floor for their first dance followed by the parents dances, a welcome by Anne’s Father and blessing by Kyle’s Grandfather. The plated salads came out and the buffet opened shortly. During dinner I played a mix of country and soft rock.
After dinner we had the
toasts and I opened the dance floor with “Build Me Up Buttercup” while Anne
& Kyle went inside to cut the cake with their close family members. The floor packed instantly and stayed filled
for the next 2 hours. We paused for the
bouquet & garter tosses, then back to dancing til the end of the night. They even had a conga line going through the
room to “We Are Family” in memory of Anne’s Uncle. I loved seeing Anne and her bridesmaids all
dancing to “Work From Home” again!
The night ended with “Wagon
Wheel” and a sparkler exit from the front of the house. This was one of my favorite weddings, and not
one I, or the guests, will soon forget!
This was the first time I’ve ever heard “Edelweiss” used for a Bridal entrance and I loved it. Great working with you again, Randy, as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara! You too. That song is very important to Anne and her Father.
