A Downtown Raleigh Wedding At Vidrio For Christy and Stephen

One of the coolest venues in downtown Raleigh is Vidrio, where Christy and Stephen chose to have their wedding reception on January 26th.

The reception was held on the whole 2ndfloor of the restaurant.  As the 75 guests arrived I had a mix of 80’s, rock and classic soul playing in the bar area where I was set up.  Guests enjoyed cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and the music.  After visiting with everyone for a while, Christy and Stephen had their first dance to “Mario Kart Love Song” by Sam Hart.  After that Stephen danced with his Mother to “Days Like This” by Van Morrison.  LOVE that song!!!  I invited everyone to the banquet room at the end of the floor for dinner and desserts. During the buffet dinner I had the same mix of music as cocktails.

After dinner I invited everyone back out to the bar area for some dancing.  Before opening the floor to everyone Christy dances with her Brother to “Stand By Me”.  I opened the floor to everyone with ”Build Me Up Buttercup” that filled it pretty well with people dancing and singing it.  Some 90’s and early 2000’s mixed with some 80’s kept them dancing for the rest of the night.  I even played “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” for Christy and her Sister to dance to that was one of the biggest songs of the night.

Thank you Christy and Stephen!  I had a blast playing for you and I loved your Gryffindor tie Stephen (I wore Hogwarts cufflinks that night)!!

A Melrose Knitting Mill Wedding for Morgan and Mike

Morgan and Mike had both ceremony and reception at Melrose Knitting Mill in downtown Raleigh on January 5th and Wow!! What a great start to 2019!!!

Their ceremony was held on one side of the room and closed off with white linens.  It looks beautiful with floral arrangements by Shelley from Expressions Of Love!  I ran a mic for officiant Ben Poston and all the music. The wedding party and Morgan walked down the aisle to The Piano Guys cover of “A Thousand Years”.  After a short service they recessed to “Brand New” by Ben Rector and the 150 guests were invited downstairs for the cocktail hour. Photographer A.J. Dunlap and videographers Reel Weddings stayed to get some pics of the wedding party while the staff flipped the room for dinner and dancing.

After the room was ready, planner Steph invited guests back upstairs.  I left some music playing and went to line the wedding party up with Steph. I introduced them to “Levels” by Avicii and Morgan and Mike to “Love On Top” by Beyonce. They came in to loud applause and had their first dance to Haley Reinhart’s cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love”.  So great!!! The parents dances were next with Morgan and her Father dancing to “My Little Girl”.  Mike escorted his Mother to the floor for their dance to “My Wish”.  Morgan’s Father welcomed everyone and the salads and entrees came out shortly. During dinner I had a mix of rock, country, standards and classic soul playing.

After dinner we had the toasts from the sweetheart table and opened the floor with the “Hora Medley” that had everyone running to the floor to dance!  It was amazing!! Some oldies mixed with some current top 40 kept them dancing before the cake cutting to “Honey Bee”. I even played a Polka for Mikes Grandmother that wasn’t kept off the floor just because of her wheelchair. Back to dancing to Disco, 80’s, more current top 40 and finally “Closing Time” to end the night.

I invited the guests back downstairs for the sparkler exit and to grab M&M’s on their way out. Thank you Morgan and Army Lieutenant Mike and thank you for your service to our country!  I was honored to be your DJ!
