For the cocktail hour on the outdoor patio I played a mix of
standards including Frank Sinatra (my fav), Dean Martin, Michael Buble &
Harry Connick. After pics were taken and
cocktails enjoyed, guests were invited into the ballroom for dinner and
dancing. I lined the wedding party up in
the house and ushered them to the ballroom for introductions. I introduced the wedding party and Linsey
& Chris into the room to Switchfoot’s “Back To The Beginning Again” and
Lindsey & Chris came right to the floor for their first dance to “Swept
Away (Sentimental Version)” by The Avett Brothers. The wedding party took their seats and
Lindsey stayed on the floor to dance with her father to “My Girl” and Chris
escorted his mother to the floor for their dance to “The Words I Would Say” by
The Sidewalk prophets. Since it was
Mothers day weekend, Chris had all the mothers join them on the dance floor
with their dancing partners. What a
great idea! They all took their seats
and Lindsey’s father welcomed everyone followed by a blessing by Minister Rick
Clayton. The food stations of chicken
and waffles, crepes and pasta opened in the ballroom and in the house and I
continued a standards mix.
As dinner was ending I played “Let It Go” from Frozen and
went into a Happy Birthday sing a long to Lindsey’s beautiful little 2 year old
flower girl Ellery who was celebration her birthday. She was so excited to hear “Let It Go”! They even had a pink cake for her! I invited
all the married couples to the floor to have a “longest married couple” dance
with Lindsey and Chris to “Tea For Two” by Yael Meyer. I opened the floor to
everyone with “Carolina Girls” that filled it for the next 2 hours. Guests danced to beach music, oldies, current
top 40 and even saw her grandmother getting down to “Runaround Sue”. We pause briefly for a cake cutting to “How
Sweet It Is” and a candle light ceremony for Lindsey and her Sigma sorority
sisters then back to dancing. I loved
seeing everyone including her parents bouncing up and down on the dance floor
to “Sandstorm” and then I mixed into a Weaver family favorite “Dream Weaver”
(get it??) by 70’s singer Gary Wright.
We ended the night with “Don’t Stop Believin’” and a sparkler exit from
the front of the house. What a fun night
and a great group to play for !!
