Kasey & Greg chose to have both ceremony and reception
at Cary NC’s 5 star Umstead Hotel
& Spa on a perfect 72 degree May 15th day. The ceremony was held in the back lawn and I
provided music while the Umstead provided sound. As the 80 guests arrived I had a mix of
bagpipe music playing. For the entrance
of the mothers I played “The Prince Of Denmark’s March”, the wedding party
entered to “Sinfonia Da Cantata” by Bach and Kasey and her Uncle entered to a
celtic version of “Canon In D”. After a
short service, their processional was “The Wedding March” and guests made their
way to the back terrace for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. For the cocktail hour
I played a mix of country, pop, rock and R&B.
After some pics were taken by photographer Warren McCormack,
the wedding party made their way to the reception for introductions. Guests made their way into the ballroom and
found their seats. I lined the wedding
party up with help from The Umstead’s Carrie & Heavenly and introduced them
into the room to “Uptown Funk”. They lined
up in front of the head table for Kasey & Greg’s choreographed first dance
to “Only You Can Love Me This Way” by Keith Urban. Everyone took their seats and Kasey’s Uncle
John welcomed them. The 3 course meal of
soup, salad and entrée’s came out and I continued the same playlist as
cocktails.
After dinner we had toasts by the Best Man Adam and Kasey’s
bridesmaid Emily. I invited Kasey onto
the floor to dance with her Uncle to “I Loved Her First” in memory of her late
father. Kasey then danced with her
mother to the country song “Like My Mother Does” by Lauren Alaina and Greg
escorted his mother to the floor for their dance to Shinedown’s “Simple
Man”. I opened the floor to everyone
with “My Girl” and the mostly older crowd filled the floor. For the next 2 hours they continually danced
to top 40, line dances & a few oldies and ballads. I even got them to dance to a polka! We only paused briefly for the cake cutting to
Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”, the bouquet toss to “Single Ladies” and
garter toss to “Danger Zone”.
I ended the night with “Wagon Wheel” and “Sweet
Caroline”. What a fun night and a great
group to play for. I loved meeting their
adorable flower girl Peyton (who shares her name with my niece) and seeing the
best man Adam doing “Copperhead Road”. Congratulations
Greg, Kasey and Kasey’s Mom, Lynn and Thank You!
