McLendon/Woomert wedding at The Fearrington barn on May 10th, 2014

This was my first time back to The Fearrington Barn in Pittsboro with Gilda this year, but I will be back the next 2 weekends for other weddings and I was excited to be back for Lee Anne and James’s wedding reception!  They had a string quartet provide music for the cocktail hour in the brick patio in front of the barn.  The 115 guests made their way through the hallway to the barn built in 1927 with barn swallows flying overhead.  It really is very charming.

I only introduced Lee Anne and James to U2’s “Beautiful Day” and they made their way to the dance floor for their first dance to Etta James classic “At Last”.  They took their seats after and Lee Anne’s Father, John, welcomed everyone and James’ Uncle Bruce blessed the food.  The 3 food stations opened with a mediterranian station, seafood station and beef carving stations and guests helped themselves as I had a dinner playlist of standards playing. 

After dinner and visiting with guests, Lee Anne joined her father on the floor for their dance to “My Wish”.  Half way through, James escorted his mother to the floor to finish out the song.  I opened the floor with “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra and some 40’s swing that filled the floor, then some Motown that kept everyone out there.  They had a photo booth that opened at this time with lots of props that the guests had a blast with!  I’m sure photographer Krystal Kast and videographers Blueberry Creative got some great shots.

We stopped after some dancing for the toasts by James’s brothers and the maid of honor and the cake cutting to “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne, then back to dancing with some 70’s and 80’s as well as some current hits mixed in.   I think I even saw Lee Anne’s father dancing to “Call Me Maybe”!

The night was supposed to come to an end, but they were no way near ready to leave, so I played for another hour.  They ended the night with “Come Away With Me” by Norah Jones and had a sparkler exit from the front of the barn.  What a fun night and I was sorry to see it come to an end.
