Cathey/Watts wedding at The Carolina Inn on April 26th, 2014

My day started at 8:30am DJing for 4,000 attendees of the March Of Dimes March For Babies walk in Morrisville and I was thrilled to be part of such a great cause.  I played everything from country and rock to hip-hop and R&B.  I wound that up at 12:30 and came home to clean up and head to Chapel Hill’s Carolina Inn for Laura & Chris’s big day.  I was thrilled to be part of their wedding and work with some of my favorite vendors in Gina from A Southern Soiree, Christobal from Azul Photography, Melissa from The Carolina Inn, and Twenty One Films. It could not have been a more perfect day for a wedding!

The ceremony was held in the Bryan courtyard of the Inn and I provided a mic for the minister and Elegant Ensembles provided strings for music.  The ceremony finished and guests made they way through the Inn to the Old Well Room for cocktails and appetizers. I had a mix of soft rock and country playing for the 110 guests.  The doors of the ballroom opened for guests to find their seats and it was time to introduce the wedding party.

The wedding party entered to “Gonna Make You Sweat” and Laura & Chris to “Jump Around” since they both went to UNC.  There was a huge roar from the crown and Laura & Chris had their first dance to a shortened edit I did of “Hey Pretty Girl” by Kip Moore.  I love that song!! The wedding party took their seats and Laura’s Father, Jim, welcomed everyone.  I knew he was a little nervous but I was the only one that could tell.  He did a fantastic job! After Pastor Allison blessed the food we went ahead and did the cake cutting to “How Sweet It Is”.  The food stations opened and I continued a soft rock & country mix for dinner music.

After dinner and a few toasts, Laura danced with her father to Trace Adkins “Just Fishin’” and Chris escorted his mother to the floor to dance to The Carpenter’s “Close To You”.  I opened the floor for everyone with “My Girl” and some Motown that filled the floor.  The Classic Carolina photo booth opened in the hall and the wedding party had a blast with all the props.

After a short time we paused for the bouquet toss to “Man, I Feel Like A Woman” and garter toss to “The Way You Make Me Feel” by Michael Jackson, then back to dancing to some 90’s and current music.  One of the best moments of the night was when all their friends and family surrounded them wearing glow sticks in a circle singing “When I Die Young” at the top of their lungs. So great!  The night ended with Train’s “Marry Me” and Darius’s cover of “Wagon Wheel” that had everyone singing along.  They made their pom-pom exit from the front of the Inn and called it a night.

What a fun crowd!  I was humbled to be part of 2 fantastic events in 1 day and couldn’t be happier for Laura and Chris!
