Whitley/Sheets reception at The Cardinal Club on October 26, 2013

Julia and Nathan chose the beautiful Cardinal Club located on the 29th floor of the Wells Fargo Building in downtown Raleigh for their wedding reception.  The room looked great with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Raleigh and floral arrangements by Greg Warren.  Photographer Emily Barefoot was there to grab every pic.  The cocktail hour was held in the front room with a photo booth by NC FotoBooth and guests were asked to sign a guest poster for Julia and Nathan.  When the wedding party arrived, it was time to open the ballroom for dinner and dancing.

The wedding party was introduced to Macklemore’s “Can’t Hold Us” and they all came dancing in.  Nate and Julia came into the room to a roar from the guests and right into their first dance “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne.  They took their seats and Julia’s Father Gaines welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming and her Uncle Joseph blessed the food.  The salads and entrĂ©e’s were served and I played a mix of Motown, Classic rock and standards.

After dinner Julia’s Father said the toast and Julia and Nate cut the Cinda’s made cake to “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)”.  While the staff delivered the cake slices the cookie bar opened.  Julia had asked several guests to make home made cookies for the reception.  There had to be 30 different kinds there.  Guests could fill to go boxes with cookies as a wedding favor.  Such a great idea!

To open the dance floor, Julia danced with her Father to “My Girl” and Nate escorted his Mother to the floor for their dance to “My Wish”. I opened the floor to everyone with “Build Me Up Buttercup” and the floor was filled in minutes.  I played a big mix of oldies, 80’s and current dance music for the 150 guests to dance to all night and they had a blast!  When Nate and his college friends were on the floor I played the University Of Michigan fight song “Victors” and they acted like they were back in college again.

Their last song “How Sweet It Is” came a little early since no one was ready to stop dancing and they made a sparkler exit from the bottom floor of the building.  What a fun night and I couldn’t be happier for them.
