I knew this was going to be a great wedding reception, and it was!  Julia had the biggest smile on her face every time I looked at her and the wedding party (and guests) all looked like models!

Their ceremony was held earlier in the afternoon at St Francis of Assasi church and guests roamed around downtown Raleigh waiting for the reception to begin.  The cocktail hour was held in the house and the 160 guests enjoyed cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres that were delicious!  Great job Beau!!  After the cocktail hour, the guests made their way to the carriage house for dinner and dancing.

 

Before the intros, Julia & Josh decided to cut the cake with only their parents and wedding party watching.  I lined the wedding party up and got them ready for their entrance into the carriage house.  I introduced them and Julia & Josh came in to thunderous applause for their first dance followed by a funny welcome by her father.

The salads and entrées came out and I played a mix of standards during dinner.  After dinner we had the toasts and parents dances, then opened the floor with some beach music, Motown and top 40 that kept young and old dancing for the next few hours.  We paused briefly for the bouquet toss to “Single Ladies”, garter removal to “Pony” and toss to “Hot In Herre”, then back to dancing until the end of the night.  We ended with some country sing a longs, “Sweet Caroline” and finally the last dance to “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.   One of the best moments of the night was a shirtless ring bearer running around with a Ghostbusters proton pack on his back shooting everyone on the dance floor.  That may be the cutest thing I have seen at a wedding!

This was one of my favorite weddings, and not one I, or the guests, will soon forget!

I love the story of Tiela & Tim’s journey to their wedding!  They were High School Sweethearts that went separate direction, yet ended up together years later.  Such a great story!

Their ceremony was held outside at The Umstead and officiated over by Bill Simpson.  Tim walked down the aisle with his son and daughter and Tiela with her son and daughter.  After a short ceremony the 60 guests made their way to the pre-function area outside the ballroom for cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres.  During the cocktail hour I had a mix of country and soft rock playing.  After Dara & Phil got some pics and video the doors to the ballroom opened and guests found their tables.

Tiela, Tim and their children were introduced to the very appropriate “Brady Bunch Theme” and Tim & Tiela had their first dance followed by a welcome by Tim.  The food stations opened and I informed the guests what was at each.  During dinner I had the same playlist as cocktails. 

After dinner we had the toast and cake cutting and I opened the floor with some funk and top 40 them kept the guests dancing for the next hour and a half.  I played lots of 80’s, oldies, some 70’s and even some country.  We ended the night with Tim & Tiela walking thru the hall with guests throwing “funfetti” over them.

This was one of my favorite weddings, and not one I, or the guests, will soon forget!

Kristi & Doug’s Wedding at Washington-Duke Inn

I was thrilled to play for Kristi and Doug’s wedding at the Washington-Duke Inn!  They are such a nice couple and are so happy being with each other!  

Their ceremony was held at Duke Chapel which was also the location of their first date.  After the ceremony the 120 guests made their way to Washington-Duke Inn for the cocktail hour, dinner and dancing.  During the cocktail hour I had a mix of classic soul and standards playing.  The doors to the ballroom opened towards the end of the hour and guests found their tables that were decorated with floral arrangements by Floral Dimensions.  The wedding party was each announced from their seats and Kristi and Doug made their grand entrance from the hallway where they came in and had their first dance followed by a welcome by Doug’s father and blessing by Father Kaesel.  During dinner I continued a classic soul and standards playlist.

 

After dinner we had a couple toasts and a thank you from Doug, then I opened the floor with some Motown that filled it for the next 2 ½ hours.  We paused briefly for the cake cutting, then right back to dancing until the end of the night. During dancing I played oldies, top 40, some 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s hits and ended with some sing-a-longs.

This was one of my favorite weddings, and not one I, or the guests, will soon forget!
