Corrie & Bradford’s Wedding at The Rickhouse in Durham

This was my first time playing at Durham’s new event space The Rickhouse and I love it! It has a very hip urban feel with exposed brick walls, beautiful wood floors and a covered porch overlooking the old Durham Bulls Stadium! There is a clear glass wall that looks into their distillery, Revival Spirits also.  Awesome!!

I got there way early to set up before their ceremony that was held in the same room and so glad I did.  There wedding was beautiful and their 4 flower girls in pink dresses were the cutest things I’ve seen in a while.  Guitarist Matthew Kanon handled the music and I always love hearing him play!  He also took care of their ceremony music.

During the served dinner I had a mix of country, soft rock and classic soul playing.  After dinner we had the cake cutting and a few toasts including a very touching toast by Corrie’s father.  I opened the floor with some Motown and top 40 that kept them dancing for the next couple hours.  Their playlist was heavy on 80’s and top 40.

We ended the night with “Time Of My Life” from Dirty Dancing and a sparkler exit from the front of the building.

Julie & Martin’s Wedding at All Saints Chapel on May 7th, 2016

Where & When: All Saints Chapel in Raleigh NC on May 7^th, 2016

Julie and Martin have got to be two of the sweetest and nicest people I have worked on a wedding with!  I met them at an open house at All Saints Chapel and instantly knew that we would be a great match.   They had both their ceremony and reception in the historic white chapel and I was there to provide music all day.

As guests arrived for the ceremony I had a mix of pop songs performed classically by Vitamin String Quartet and The Piano Guys.  The small white Chapel looked beautiful with floral arrangements by Sybil Skinner from Yeopim Flowers.  The parents thru the bridesmaids walked the aisle to “Feather” from Forrest Gump and Julie & her father to “”Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Vitamin String Quartet.  After a short ceremony by Reverend Ronald  Poythress and readings by both fathers, Julie, Martin and the wedding party recessed to Handel’s “Alla Hornpipe” and the guests were invited to the basement for cocktails.

During the cocktail hour guests enjoyed custom drinks, passed hors d’oeuvres, a selfie station and a snow cone station!  Yes, an awesome snow cone station!!!  During the cocktail hour I had a mix of pop, classic soul and standards playing.

After pics were taken by photographer Bronwyn Duffield guests made their way back up to the main floor that had been transformed for dinner and dancing.  The wedding party was introduced to Pharrell’s “Happy” and Julie and Martin came in to some of the loudest cheering I have heard.  They came to the dance floor for their first dance to “As Time Goes By” by Dooley Wilson from the movie Casablanca.  Julie then danced with her father to “What A Wonderful World” and Martin and his mother to “Forever Young” by Bob Dylan.  Julie’s father blessed the meal and the buffet opened.  During dinner I continued the same playlist as cocktails.

After dinner we had the toasts and the cake cutting to “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor.  I invited the married couples to the dance floor for an anniversary dance to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra and then opened the floor to everyone with “My Girl” that filled it instantly.  The guests didn’t leave the packed dance floor for 2 ½ hours and danced to oldies, top 40, sing a longs and a couple line dances. 

We ended the night with Queen’s “Somebody To Love” and guests left for the sparkler exit as I played “Celebration”.  What a fun night and wonderful couple!  Thank you Julie and Martin and congratulations.
